Interesting Rattlesnake Island Trail info - The Lakes Region Conservation Trust (LRCT) acquired the Morris and Pardoe Preserve on Rattlesnake Island in the middle of 1982. This 102-acre reserve rests in the middle of Rattlesnake Island (368 acres) which is the fifth largest island on Lake Winnipesaukee. The island forms part of a large arc that is the outer rim of the Belknap Mountain ring dike, the remnants of a Jurassic volcano. You can explore the geology of this unique island by taking moderate/strenuous 2-mile (1-mile out and back on the Ridge Trail) hike. If you do not live on Rattlesnake Island you can become a member of LRCT and use the LRCT dock located at the Southern tip of the island. The dock is pictured below. Users may only dock there to hike and can stay up to 2 hours. (This pic shows the dock as of May 30, 2020 still out of the water)
Stonedam Island, separated from Meredith Neck by Sally's Gut is another Lakes Region Conservation Trust property with a dock that members can use to go for a hike on the island.
